Universality: or why there are separate
sciences tells why a universal
mechanism at one level of organization makes the details of lower
levels irrelevant. Thus universal computers make computer science
independent of basic physics.

Here's more
on hydrogen. BMW has built prototype cars, but as long as
gasoline remains cheap they won't be produced in large quantity.
Hydrogen is the lightest of the elements with an atomic weight of
1.0. Liquid hydrogen has a density of 0.07 grams per cubic
centimeter, whereas water has a density of 1.0 g/cc and gasoline
about 0.75 g/cc. The advantage is that it stores approximately 2.6
times the energy per unit mass as gasoline, and the disadvantage is
that it needs about 4 times the volume for a given amount of energy.
A 15 gallon automobile gasoline tank contains 90 pounds of gasoline.
The corresponding hydrogen tank would be 60 gallons, but the
hydrogen would weigh only 34 pounds.
Graham Cowan makes a
strong case for boron as a better automobile fuel than hydrogen. The
idea is to use nuclear energy to split boron oxide, and to use the
boron as fuel in suitable automobile engines. The boron oxide
resulting from the combustion is condensed to a solid and stored at
the boron station for later conversion to boron again. The main
question in my mind is how to design an engine with horsepower per
pound close to that of a gasoline engine. http://www-formal.stanford.edu/jmc/progress/hydrogen.html
Here's a link to Magna
Steyr, the manufacturer of the liquid hydrogen tank for

Here's a start on the numbers.
Table A.59 (of Handbook_of_Physical Calculations, J. J. Tuma,
McGraw-Hill New York, 1967 ISBN 0-07-065438-7) titled "Average Heat
of Combustion" lists "Gasoline(0.71) 11.50; Gasoline(0.77) 11.90;
Hydrogen 33.90" with units 1E3_kcal/kg in each case.
Some companies that supply hydrogen and
related technology: Air
Liquide(sells gases including hydrogen), Air Products and Chemicals,
Inc., The BOC
Group, Praxair.
Air Products and Chemicals,
Inc. has a page on a hydrogen
fuel celled bus in Chicago that has a range of 250 miles -
enough for a whole day. This may be good enough performance for
cars.

Here's a Danish page
evaluating Denmark's
experience with wind. The page is rather negative. Maybe
more enthusiastic pages can be found.
Wind produces 13.7 percent of
Denmark's electricity. This comes to 1900 megawatts, which is about
the power of the two reactor Diablo Canyon nuclear power station in
California.

Good interesting page about new energy's the use of nitrate salt

water as a coolant, as well as the use of sodium.
The use
of water enabled receiver designs based upon
a single pass
to produce superheated steam through the
receiver tubes. Boeing North American, Inc. has already applied
this
technology in 5-tube and 70-tube receiver panels
that
have been tested as part of several
commercial design studies-which culminated in the design and
construction
of Solar One.

I believe we are going thru a learning
process right now. we are supposed to be learning how to live
together with love and hope and unity. the events of the last months
have opened our eyes as to how we should live our lives...caring
about our brothers and sisters no matter what. we will never know
when "the end" will come. by the way, " the end " is exactly what?
the end of hate and prejudice and injustice? would that be so bad? Hey, I know it's kinda' late to add this, but . .
. there's no such thing as a "red dwarf". Our sun will eventually
"expand" into a RED GIANT. Our sun will then proceed to "burb" off
it's outer atmosphere and become a small, WHITE DWARF. Our sun WILL
NOT go nova. That right is reserved for the big blue stars (I like
to call them "Big Blue"):). When these stars run out of their
"nuclear fuel", they expand into a super red giant and then go nova.
They can then either become a pulsar (neutron star) or a black
hole.
P.S. No one knows the day of the end of the world. NO
ONE. We are living in the end times, however. The signs are
happening today.
Your DNA is not a finished work. It will
not be unless you are worthy. 2 become 1, and its for you to learn,
If you do not, you are baboon.
We seeks good will and
intellegence. Simple. unless you understand, your not worthy, and
you will go around again. Until your ready for unity.
P.S.
your dna is a recorder of all you do here. so do good and learn.
This is what separates you from baboon, making you ready for
